Car Key Replacement and Programming
Modern car keys contain a small chip which has to be recognised by the immobiliser in the vehicle before the ignition will operate. As such, in order to make a duplicate we don’t just have to cut the key but it also needs to be programmed as well. Cutting the key is the easy part but the programming side can vary from make to make and year to year. So, you may well have a brand new key that feels and looks right and fits perfectly in the key barrel but still not be able to start the vehicle.
Fobs/Remotes work independently of the keys so it is possible that one part will fail and the other will continue to work. We program remotes/fobs as well as keys. Where possible we cut and programme on site, be that in your drive in Chadderton or on the street in Delph.
Broken Car Keys and Ignition Problems
If the ignition has a broken piece of the car key in it, this must be extracted before anything else can be done; continuing to use the vehicle can make this worse as the ignition barrel can become worn which in itself is a problem as a good key feels stiff due to a worn ignition barrel. This will be checked whilst carrying out broken car key ignition extraction.
